Welcome back everyone!

We are excited to start up the Vancouver Super League once again for 2023. This year is exciting as it sees the league grow to 7 teams, with many returning teams and the introduction of 2 new teams.

Returning for the season are last season’s champions GLC, Dunbar Cycles, Duradek, Apex Volleyball Club, and the return of Forte under the new name Overtime Charters. Introduced to the league are Bridge Athletics and Vancouver United.

League started strong with all 3 matches requiring either 4 or 5 sets. We started the year off with a repeat of last season’s championship match, Duradek playing GLC. Missing many of their regular players, Duradek faced a similar fate to last year and lost in 4 sets. GLC picked up exactly where they left off 2022 and showed why they are perennial contenders for the title.

The second match of the day featured Apex Volleyball playing against rookies Bridge Athletics. Bridge was also missing some key athletes in their line-up but managed to hold on for a win. Apex Volleyball played with their trademark style and continued their 2022 trend of going to 5 sets, ultimately falling 2 sets to 3.

Our final match of the night featured Dunbar Cycles playing Overtime Charters. Both teams showed good early season form as they battled out to a 3 sets to 1 victory for Dunbar.

As always, spectators are always welcomed and encouraged to join us at Delview Secondary School in Delta for the matches. Entry is free. All matches can be found on the Vancouver Super League YouTube channel.
