As the start of the Fall 2022 season rushes towards us, it’s a great time to reflect back on the last gold medal match from the Vancouver Super League. Pre-pandemic 2019 seems so far away and as though so much has changed, but the competitiveness and athleticism remains unchanged.

Team Vancouver Elite managed to outlast team Duradek to win the title. With the Elite not returning to the league in 2022, who will fill the void? The league is comprised mostly of returning teams, but there are some notable new additions to the rosters.

Team GLC had added 2 former Team Canada Olympians in Rudy Verhoeff and Daniel Jansen Vandoorn. Team Dunbar Cycles has brought in former Team Canada B team member Jordan McConkey to patrol the middle. Team Duradek has added international experience by bringing in Gabriel Burlacu who has represented Canada on the FIVB beach volleyball tour and Lars Bornemann who played professionally in Austria and the Czech Republic. There are lots of other new local additions to rosters as well.

Take some time to enjoy the gold medal video from 2019 and get excited for the new season in October!
